The problem
An alliance site has a coordination problem before it has a design problem. Members need a directory, the coalition needs a joining path, and the substance — impact stories, publications, news — has to be findable by people who arrived for one of those three reasons and not the others. The framing matters too: the argument is women's leadership and local adaptation practice, not women as victims, and the site had to hold that line while still stating the vulnerability plainly.
The approach
The information architecture separates the three audiences — prospective members, existing members, and researchers or press — so each has a clear path from the landing page. Impact stories are treated as a first-class content type documenting local adaptation practices, which puts women's own expertise at the centre rather than in a sidebar. Headless WordPress with GraphQL and ACF lets the coalition publish stories, publications, and events without a developer.
